Success Stories

“I have been amazed how quickly my work with Patricia has yielded tangible results.  Within a few months of working with Patricia, I have had friends/colleagues/community members comment on how they’ve seen the positive changes in my demeanor, management style, and energy.  I just had a fellow board member say to me: ‘I see the change in you.. there is a light coming from [you] that was not there before… an energy that I saw when I first met you.’

Patricia has the tremendous ability to bring out the best in an executive, through deliberate assessment, mindful introspection, and strong encouragement to push oneself to be a better leader.

It’s almost as though Patricia has helped me break out of a leadership fog, or clean my ‘lenses,’ so I can see and perceive situations more clearly and thoughtfully.

The self-awareness work we have done has been so helpful. I am now able to walk into meetings, public events, and potential conflict situations –  and seamlessly assess my audience, environment, and how I’m feeling –  so I can engage and respond in a more thoughtful, empathetic, and strategic way than ever before.

Patricia truly embodies “what they don’t teach you in business school.”

Chair, Ventura County Leadership Academy

The visioning process was uplifting for our staff. It gave the ownership
over the future of Treebones as well as reminded
them of what they love about what we are doing here not only at our business but for our community.

As an owner, I loved seeing how our staff poured their hearts and souls into the activities. We were all transformed by the process in that we worked together on it on a level playing field. It was fun and rewarding. I was amazed how in the last hour the vision statement flowed beautifully out of the group.

Our future plans are better focused and all of our staff members are already getting behind the growth of Treebones.

-Corinne and John Handy, Owners
Treebones Resort

I rode with Bill to dinner and he said he was so pleased with you and the team effort we made today and that this has been the best retreat…Thank you. You were exactly what I had hoped for!

-M.L. (Client company representative)

We initially sought leadership coaching to assist us in meeting the goals of our major gifts campaign, but from day one it has been so much more. Through coaching we have been successful in building a team of organizational leaders who are mission focused, strategic in setting goals, impactful in their contribution, inspired and inspiring. Coaching has made me aware of my personal and professional strengths and built upon those strengths to make me a more successful leader. Coaching creates an environment of accountability and achievement and has made a significant contribution to our growth.

On a personal note focusing on others’ individual strengths and how they complement other team member strengths creates a more dynamic team, reduces my personal tendency to “want to do it all”, and creates far greater success.

-Kim Olson, Executive Director
Alpha Resource Center

“I see myself and my co-workers working much more as a team and making use of each others strengths. I have pushed myself more in areas where I was not totally comfortable. I have become more at peace with a NO, and totally get that NO [may] mean NOT NOW or NOT YET. I feel the power of our contributors and the role they play. I see that people are giving not to the Foodbank but through the Foodbank. I am getting to know our contributors more and understanding the reasons they are giving.”

“Your insistence that I examine my actions and not just blunder along, doing good here and not so good there. I would say the deconstructing process has been extremely enlightening. You have helped keep us on track and focused and as a result we have become more determined. We were never lazy or unproductive as a group but now we are running more like a well oiled machine.”

Diane Durst, Major Gifts Officer, Foodbank of SB County

“Should” has been a big presence in my work life.  Our work together helped me take a first and very specific step to move off “should”, be more aware of my awareness (thinking and feeling) and go with what is best for my soul.  Patricia was able to provide me with a range of tools, options and support to get there AND feel ok about the decision (and those of the future, where “should” might rear its head again!).

-Julie M. (Executive Coaching Client)

Because I do see possibilities I feel more positive… I am more upbeat and feel less burdened yet have so much more in the works. I see paths with anticipated bumps where before I saw barriers.

Because my language is more positive and [my] thoughts based on looking for commonality and solutions, I can tell I am a better problem solver and more helpful to my co- workers.

The coaching process has allowed time [for] reflection and planning, causing [our] initiatives to be thoughtfully and thereby successfully implemented. Also Patricia’s insight into the successful journey through the change process has been invaluable.

[  ]the Alano Club Board members who have received training from you continue to find the training very helpful in staying aware that there are many people who are simply waiting to be ‘asked’ to help an organization, in terms of not only funding, but time, energy, creativity. Your training helped us to eliminate fears that held us back from asking, and we often find that people thank us for asking for their help! Your training was very practical, and has had a lasting positive effect on our Board’s ability to enlist the aid of community members in our effort to provide a safe, sober place to socialize in Santa Barbara.

Monica Curry, (former) Board Chair, Alano Club

The nature of my strengths makes it difficult to appreciate progress until the task is complete but I have found peacefulness in our team dynamic. This seems to be mutual as we each rely on one another and appreciate what each person has to offer. When one team member is down or busy the others pick up the load and keep us moving forward. It is easy for each of us to jump on and off the train as it barrels down the track without loosing speed.

-Cory Woodruff, Director of Finance and Development

Thank you for leading this course in such an inspirational way.  I have had a transformational experience that has lead me to do what I really feel I am put here to do and to put my natural strengths to work.

Thank you especially for this class.  I not only enjoyed it but also
learned a lot. I wish it had lasted for 6 weeks instead of 4. I’m not
alone in that opinion.  Two of my colleagues expressed the same
feeling.Thank you for your feedback.

Elaine (Professional Training Program Participant)

You have been a wonderful teacher.  You are full of practical advice, but you are also inspirational when you talk about how you have developed your business and your brand and gotten clients.   I can tell that the [appreciative] inquiry approach has infected the way you teach as well – you are positive and encouraging, while being realistic – a perfect combination. Thanks again!

Linda (Participant in Business Development Training)

“Working with Patricia has not only helped me clarify a career vision in line with my passions and inherent strengths but [also] shift any self created barriers that may prevent me from living this vision.”

“Coaching with Patricia has completely changed my life. What I initially thought were simplistic exercises to help change my perspective were in fact exercises that bit by bit shifted my thinking and in turn my experience of life. Inspiration found me everywhere and finally I started to experience and live the life that I had known was possible. Seriously! If you are willing to trust the process, be open to guidance and ultimately be willing to move through the discomfort towards your dream vision- you will get there. Coaching has made me realize that everything and anything is possible.”

-Candice Carlton, Financial Services Professional

I really appreciated the process that you took me through, because it helped me to vividly imagine my dreams coming true, and then provided me with a roadmap to achieving them and it left me feeling great.

-Brian Wee, Transatlantic Horse Sales

I had the wonderful opportunity to take a Niche Marketing course led by Patricia Schwartz. Patricia brought knowledge, enthusiasm, personal experience and engaging communication skills into the teleclasses. She organized partnerships between coaching students…[which] provided a tremendous opportunity to practice and interact with other participants from different parts of North America and other countries in the world.

Wally Lazaruk, Ph.D.

Patricia Schwartz is an innovative and dynamic coach!  Her expertise
helped me craft an acceptance speech for a major award that was thought
provoking, riveting and tugged at the heartstrings of over 300 audience
members!  I knew what I wanted to say, but she made sure the audience
heard it.

-Laura Inks (Executive Coaching Client)

Just wanted to say thank you for your efforts and dedication to our [training program] this past week.  You obviously live what you teach and this is very refreshing to observe and experience. I thought your sessions were run well and very organized.  I know how challenging a tele-course can be and so I think you do a very fine job of managing this medium.

-Cindy (Professional Training Program Participant)

Patricia, Thanks so much for a fantastic meeting today! It was so well organized and full of passion. You really helped us get on track to take this to the next level. We will be thinking about how we can work together with you in the future!

-Cynder Sinclair, (former) CEO, Girl Scouts of Tres Condados

Patricia’s coaching helped me excel in my vital leadership role during a critical transition period in WEV’s growth.  I was able to build staff morale and operational efficiencies during a major agency staffing loss.  With her guidance, I managed a potential crisis with thoughtful direction, self-awareness and outcomes-oriented focus. I continue to value leadership coaching as a progressive investment for staff and business development where excellence is a goal.

Judy Hawkins, (former) Executive Director
Women’s Economic Ventures and the Small Business Loan Fund

I so much appreciate that you came to LSB to share a shortened version of the AI process with us. The realizations I had just in that short session with you, and the openings I see for my life as a result, feel like they could make a truly life-changing difference. I’m grateful for the challenge to reassess my priorities and my values, and to find a path that allows me to live in line with them.

ES (Leadership Training Program Participant)

“Working with Patricia was like a light bulb turning on.  She helped me
realize my strengths and skills, and that I have the power to make my life
what I want it to be – with meaningful, enjoyable work and the perfect
balance between self, work and family.

Our sessions were incredibly efficient and I was able to accomplish so much
in a relatively short period of time.  Patricia has an amazing wealth of
experience, which she shared openly – giving me many great tips on how to be
organized, how to handle setting up the necessary business structure, and
most importantly how to stay true to my vision.

Fran Gilliland (Executive Coaching Client)

“The leadership strengths survey I completed in preparation for a board retreat two years ago, under Patricia’s direction, has guided me ever since in selecting the board activities and roles most suited to my interests and skills and the ones most likely to make a meaningful contribution to Alpha! Patricia’s input has been invaluable to me both personally and professionally.”

-Bernie Schaeffer, Board President, Alpha Resource Center, Santa Barbara

Coaching doesn’t mean just having a cheerleader
on my side, it means having honest feedback and
being pushed to do even better than I might have
done on my own. We could all use that.

I was coached by Patricia on many occasions, and
I am personally shocked at how much I have
succeeded in my business. Coaching is the small
effect that makes a huge difference.

 Cara ~ Preggers n’ Proud

Thank you  again for your support.  You made a world of difference for me.

I was overwhelmed by the details of planning the event, and needed to step back and re-connect with my own passion for what we are doing.  Your coaching helped me do that, and also gave me excellent guidance for crafting my speech.

Kirby Gillispie, Executive Director
Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center
